Mohali: In a major success for Punjab’s property tax recovery drive, Mohali district’s urban local bodies (ULBs) collected ₹11.43 crore in just 19 days under the One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme, officials announced.
Key Highlights
- Top Performers: Zirakpur led with ₹7.53 crore, followed by Kharar (₹2.09 crore) and Derabassi (₹96.45 lakh).
- Amnesty Benefits: The scheme offers full waiver on penalties and interest if the principal tax is paid by July 31, 2025. A 50% waiver applies for payments made between August 1 and October 31.
- Extended Hours: To assist taxpayers, municipal offices will remain open on weekends until July 31.
Officials Urge Timely Payments
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal praised residents for their overwhelming response and urged others to clear dues before deadlines to avoid penalties.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, who inspected Zirakpur and Kharar councils, expressed satisfaction with the scheme’s implementation and public participation.
The OTS scheme, introduced by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, aims to ease long-pending tax burdens while boosting civic revenue. With the deadline approaching, officials are pushing for maximum compliance to ensure sustained urban development.
